I want to portray African beauty and identity through portraiture wherein my subjects are clothed in traditional African dress. By doing it, I wish to restore the ethereal vision of beauty and strength of African American women in popular culture and negate the perpetuation of the derogatory stereotypes they face every day. It is my attempt to lift the veil from the African woman private world.
